Given that the mindset of Donald Tsang represents those of some Hong Kong citizens, we are now postulating the reasons why Donald Tsang(s) become(s) Donald Tsang.
We usually express our calls for improvement to the Chief Executive, a specific bureaucrat, or a particular government department. But actually, the main struggle might not exist in a single decision-making unit. The confrontation often stems from the deep-rooted values and cultural attitudes. Given this situation, Donald Tsang is bold enough to claim that he represented Hong Kong people. Donald Tsang is actually a public ideology. This mindset, with Donald Tsang as an epitome, is ubiquitous, e.g. privileging business and commerce over humanities (Economic success over the value of life), development equals to advancement (new things are always better than old stuffs), the dominion of government administration (ordering but not talking)
How did the ‘Donald Tsang mindset’ emerge? How did it diffuse through individuals? And how are individuals linked to the mainstream? Maybe we can obtain some clues to these questions by scrutinizing the objects revolving around him. We try to identify with Donald Tsang in order to reconstruct the linkages (e.g. characteristics, stories, experience) between these daily objects and Donald Tsang. Then, we reconsidered the relationship between these things and the current local development logic by visualizing these connections.
We would like to portray a lively, multi-faceted and three-dimensional suspect Donald Tsang with a heart of decorating a board. We also hope that Donald can reflect on this attitude.
